Catalan exports in April grew 14.9% year-on-year, adding up to €7.61bn according to figures released by Spain's Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry on Thursday.

Catalonia's sales abroad accounted for just under a fourth – 24.3% – of Spain's exports that month. 

Exports have most definitely picked up following the pandemic slump, and have even increased by 18.1% on pre-Covid 2019 figures for the same months when sales totaled €6.441bn.  

Around a third of all Catalan exports in April were chemical products (30.3% of the total, up 20.6% y-o-y), followed by capital goods (15.2% of the total, up 5.1% y-o-y), and food, beverages, and tobacco (14.9% of the total, up 14.5% y-o-y). 

International sales in Spain grew by slightly over a fifth on April 2021 to €31.313bn and by 26.4% compared to three years prior.
