Direct flights from Barcelona to Beijing to resume this June
Air China will cover route again after three-year hiatus
There will once again be a direct flight from Catalonia to China on June 1.
Air China will have three Airbus A-330 flights from Barcelona to Beijing per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, for the first time in three years after getting rid of them during the pandemic.
Before Covid, however, the airline had four direct flights between the Catalan capital and the Chinese capital per week, and there were also connections to Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Air China explained in a statement that it would be resuming these flights due to the high demand from passengers, with tickets already on sale.
Last year 246,000 Chinese tourists visited Catalonia according to the IDESCAT statistics institute, 250.1% more than the year prior.
Meanwhile, 61,712 Chinese tourists stayed in hotels in the Catalan capital in 2022 according to Spain's Statistics Institute (INE).
