Catalonia sees inflation increase in August due to rising fuel prices
Goods now an average of 2.5% more expensive than last year
Catalonia's inflation rate rose by 0.2 percentage points in August to reach 2.5% compared to the same month last year, according to data published by National Institute of Statistics (INE) on Tuesday.
This is the second consecutive month the inflation rate has risen, a trend attributed to the rise in fuel prices.
Underlying inflation, also known as core inflation, which does not take into account the most volatile prices, fell to 6%, also a fall of 0.2 percentage points compared with July.
Food, although still 9.5% more expensive than a year ago, has recorded the lowest year-on-year variation since May 2022.
