Catalonia saw 10% increase in international visitors coming by air in July
2.2 million tourists arrived at Barcelona, Girona, and Reus airports
A total of 2,231,732 international travelers arrived in Catalonia by plane in July, a 10.1% increase compared to the same month in 2023.
The Catalan territory was the second most popular destination in all of Spain in the month, gathering 19.9% of all visitors, behind only the Balearic Islands which saw 2.5 million (+4.7%) tourists arrive by airport.
70% of visitors (1,560,305) to Catalonia arrived with low-cost companies, an increase of 9.6% compared to the same period last year.
In the year to date, Catalonia has received 12,502,271 international travelers, 15.4% more than between the months of January and July 2023.
The Madrid region has surpassed Catalonia in the arrival of foreign travelers, with almost 14 million (+12.2%) for the year to date. Barcelona and Madrid airports have welcomed more than 50% of the arrivals in Spain during this period.
