Catalan exports rise 12.7% in October, the highest figure since March 2023
Goods worth €9.652 billion sold abroad last year
Catalan exports soared 12.7% in October compared to the same month last year, up to a value of €9.652 billion, according to data released on Thursday by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.
This is the highest value since March 2023, when goods worth €10.381 billion were sold abroad, and the best record ever seen in any month of October, with data going back to 1995.
The positive results have been driven by the chemistry sector, the automotive sector, and sales of capital goods.
The increase in exports rises to 19.31% when compared with September's figures, when goods worth €8.089 billion were sold.
The year-to-date figures are down in 2023, but the positive October results allowed this decrease to be reduced to 1.4%, to €83.835 billion.
By region, Barcelona had the highest growth in percentage and in absolute terms, with 15.2% and €7.518 billion. Girona (+8.2%) was next in percentage increase with €788 million, followed by Tarragona (+2.4%) with €1.068 billion and Lleida (+2%) with €277.7 million.
