Catalan exports rose by 2.2% in May, reaching €9.2bn

Sales abroad during first months of year fall 4.2% compared to same period in 2023

Catalan exports increased by 2.2% in May compared to the same month last year, reaching €9.2 billion, according to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business.

The increase follows April's rise, which broke five consecutive months of decline. However, the cumulative exports from the first months of the year still show a decline of 4.2% compared to the same period last year.  

In May, Catalan exports accounted for 26.6% of Spain's total, which increased by 2.3%, reaching €34.71 billion.  

As for imports in Catalonia, they dropped by 2.9%, reaching €9.7 billion, accounting for 26.4% of the Spanish total.
