Catalan companies’ exports broke all records in September
Export sales reach just over 6 billion euros, an increase of 5.68% compared to same month last year
The exports of Catalan companies once again broke all records in September, according to the figures published by the Spanish Ministry of Economy. In September, the export sales reached just over 6 billion euros, representing an increase of 5.68% compared to September last year. According to the figures, the Catalan economy has recorded the best month of September in its history, the best third quarter and the highest exports in the first nine months of the year.
Catalan exports in the third quarter reached just over 17 billion, representing an increase of 6.2% compared to last year. The accumulated figures for the year show that Catalan companies posted total sales of 52.7 billion euros, representing an increase of 8.4% over the same period last year.
Commercial deficit grows by 10%
In the first nine months of the year, exports reached 52.7 billion euros while the total imports of Catalan companies were 2.9 billion euros, representing an increase of 8.7%. According to these figures, the commercial deficit of the Catalan economy stood at €10.2 billion, 9.9% higher than in the same period last year.
Catalonia contributes 26% of Spanish exports
Catalan exports represented 26% of the Spanish exports in September. Catalan exports helped Spanish exports break new records. In the first nine months of the year, the exports of the Spanish economy were €205.5 billion, 9.1% more than in the previous year.
Industrial turnover rises 3%
The turnover of the Catalan industrial sector in September increased by 3.4% in relation to the same month last year, according to figures published by the Spanish Statistics Institute.
In Spain, the growth in industrial turnover was 6.8% in September and in the accumulated figures of the first nine months of the year, the increase in the turnover of the Catalan industry improved 7.6% while in Spain the increase was 7.7%. The energy sector boosted the number of businesses in the Spanish industry with an annual growth of 27.3%.
