Barcelona limits 24-hour convenience stores schedules near Primavera Sound music festival
Measure taken to avoid "massified drinking areas" in public zones to improve coexistence between event and neighbors' rest
Barcelona will limit the opening hours for the 24/7 convenience stores near the Parc del Fòrum area, where the Primavera Sound music festival will take place during the first weekend of June.
24-hour stores will only be allowed to open from 8 am until 10 pm from May 29 until June 3, a temporary measure enforced "for public order reasons and for the coexistence between the event and nearby residents," the city council said in a written statement.
The schedule limitation was enforced during the 2023 edition and is planned to "avoid massified drinking areas in public zones with food or alcoholic beverages consumption."
Restaurants and bars will also see their opening hours reduced. They will only be allowed to open from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m., two hours later than they are normally allowed to.
Local Guàrdia Urbana police will patrol the area during the Primavera Sound music festival and set one-way streets to control the large groups expected in the Parc del Fòrum zone.
