Barcelona airport surpasses 26m passengers in first six months of 2024, records best June ever

Barcelona airport has registered 26,090,602 passengers during the first six months of 2024, recording their all-time high for that period, as Spain's airport manager AENA published on Friday.

The new figure increases by 12.9% compared to 2023 and by 5.1% compared to 2019.

Only in June 2024 did the airport see 5,056,923 passengers, 13.3% more than in 2019 but a mere 1% less than in 2019.

Of these, 3,761,682 traveled on international flights and 1,284,338 on national ones.

Madrid's airport continues to be the airport in Spain with the highest number of passengers, with 31.7 million travelers during the first six months of the year.

Overall, across all of the airports, there were 144.1 million passengers.

Barcelona-El Prat registered 166,984 operations between takeoffs and landings during the first six months of the year, including 31,365 flights in June alone.
