Barcelona airport keeps breaking records with 4.3 million passengers in March

The Josep Tarradellas Barcelona El Prat airport continues breaking monthly records. It moved 4.3 million passengers in March, registering a 1.8% increase on 2024 figures, as Spain's airport manager Aena announced on Tuesday.

March 2025 marks the highest number of passengers for the month of March in Barcelona airport's history. One of the elements that Aena highlights is that the Easter Holidays took place in March, as opposed to this year happening in April.

Out of the over 4.3 million travelers, 3,202,400 flew international flights, representing a 2.3% increase on last year's figures. In March, 1,146,167 passengers flew domestic, a 0.4% rise on March 2024 data.

During March 2025, Aena registered 28,411 operations, including take-offs and landings, a 5.2% growth on 2024 figures. Last month, Aena hauled 16.35 tonnes via the Barcelona airport, 6.6% more than in the same period in 2024, setting an all-time high for the month of March.

Record-breaking first quarter

The infrastructure has been breaking monthly records for the last six months, pushing first-quarter figures to 11,806,741 million passengers during the year's first three months.

Officials recorded 3.2% more travelers than the same period last year.

Out of these, 8,649,856 flew internationally, representing a 4.1% rise on 2024 data.

During this time, Aena has managed 77,413 take-offs and landings.

Girona and Reus

Girona's airport saw 57,498 passengers in March, the highest figure recorded since March 2018, and a 7% increase on last year's figures.

During the first quarter of the year, Girona Costa Brava airport saw 134,979 passengers, a rise of 25.6% on 2024 data.

In March, Girona saw 1,348 take-offs and landings, and 3,918 since January.

Meanwhile, the southern airport of Reus, saw a 28.4% decrease in the number of travelers during the first three months of the year, as only 5,904 passengers have flown from Reus' infrastructure.

March saw 4,018 passengers.
