Barcelona Airport passenger numbers jump over 16% in February
Over 3.6 million travelers used airport, up over 11% on pre-pandemic figures
Barcelona Airport registered 3,651,911 passengers in February, an increase of 16.6% compared to the same month last year, according to figures released by airport management company Aena on Tuesday.
Of the total, 3,644,114 passengers flew on commercial flights – 2,657,227 on international flights, up 19.8% on 2023, and 986,887 passengers on domestic flights, up 8.6%.
Compared to February 2019, pre-pandemic, passenger numbers rose 11.8%.
Madrid was the busiest airport in Spain, with 4,713,881 passengers, 12.9% more than February 2023 and 13.6% more than in 2019.
Ther were 23,587 take-offs and landings at Barcelona Airport during February, up 13.6% on 2023 and up 3.9% on 2019.
Passenger numbers for the year so far, including January and February 2024, stand at 7,159,589. This represents a 15.3% increase on 2023 and a 9.4% increase on 2019.
