Barcelona airport sets new record for February with 3.7m travelers
Passengers increased 2.8% compared to previous year, with 2.9 million on international flights
The Josep Tarradellas Barcelona El Prat airport set a new record for the month of February with 3,754,942 passengers, according to data shared on Wednesday by Spain's airport manager AENA.
Figures show a 2.8% increase compared to the previous year, with 2,751,830 travelers flying international and 996,762 flying domestic.
Since the beginning of the year, 7,450,471 passengers have traveled through Barcelona's airport, which is already 4.1% more than in 2024.
In terms of operations, Barcelona saw 24,417 takeoffs and landings.
In addition to Barcelona, AENA operates the airports in Girona-Costa Brava, Reus, and Sabadell. The last one is mainly used for training and private jet operations.
Girona's airport saw 38,847 passengers in February, around 50% more, and 1,190 operations, also around 50% more, on last year's figures.
Meanwhile, Reus registered 508 travelers in February and 1,886 since the start of the year, 21% more than 2024. The airport saw 1,186 operations in February. With January's numbers, there have been 2,462 operations this year so far. According to AENA, this represents an 11.7% decrease from last year's number of operations.
On the less public airport, Sabadell, there were 9,471 operations since the start of 2025, only 4,498 of which happened in February. However, this only accounts for 286 passengers, a 51.7% drop from 2024 figures.
Madrid's airport was the most used across the AENA network in February, with 4,820,733 passengers, an increase of 2.3% compared to 2024.
