3.3 million tourists visit Catalonia in Q1 2024, 20% more than last year
Spain received 16 million visitors, mostly from UK, Germany and France
In the first quarter of 2024, Catalonia received 3.3 million tourists, almost 21% more than in the same period last year, according to the Statistics of Touristic Movements (Frontur).
In March alone, 1.3 million tourists visited Catalonia, almost 30% more than in the same month last year.
It was the second most visited Autonomous Community in Spain with 21% of the country's total tourists, just behind the Canary Islands with 24%.
Spain as a whole received 16 million tourists in the first quarter of 2024, almost 18% more than in the same period last year. In March alone, 6.3 million people visited Spain, 21% more than in the same month last year.
Each tourist spent an average of €1,088, 7% more than in the first quarter of last year.
Most tourists who visited Spain came from the United Kingdom, with almost 3 million visitors, 15% more than in the same month last year, followed by Germany with 2.1 million and France with almost 2 million.
