Jailed Catalan minister gives up post as MP
Joaquim Forn resigns in order to leave prison
The jailed Catalan minister Joaquim Forn has given up his post as MP in order to be able to leave prison, just hours after the Spanish Prosecutor asked the judge to keep him behind bars.
Forn has been in prison for since November 2 facing possible charges of rebellion, sedition, and misuse of funds, after the Catalan Parliament made a declaration of independence last October.
Other Catalan leaders that remain in jail include vice-president Oriol Junqueras, and civic leaders Jordi Cuixart and Jordi Sanchez, who recently gave up on a unilateral way of acheiving independence.
