Catalan citizens will be able to vote in the independence referendum from any polling station in the country, the Catalan government spokesman confirmed. "For people that find their polling station closed, they should know they will be able to vote anywhere," said spokesman Jordi Turull during a press conference on Sunday morning.

Polling stations will be able to access a list with the full census of Catalan voters, so they will know whether someone has voted or not. Catalan citizens will be able to vote showing their ID, passport or driving license.

"The government can confirm that we will celebrate a referendum with guarantees. It is not as we would have liked, but it is guaranteed," said Turull

The Catalan government also announced that voting without envelopes will be allowed, as Spanish police confiscated millions of them and manufacturers have not been able to print more. Secrecy, Turull said, will be guaranteed anyway as ballot boxes for the referendum are opaque, unlike in other elections, when they are transparent.

"There will be ballots everywhere," added the Catalan government spokesman. Spanish police confiscated in the last two weeks up to 12 million ballots, but the government was able to print more. In any case, if someone did download the official ballot and printed it from home the ballot will also be accepted as valid.
