On Sunday, Montserrat was the scene of a "unique and unrepeatable" live nativity scene, featuring more than 900 actors playing different roles.

Those taking part in the massive manger set came from around forty different live nativity scenes from all over Catalonia.

Maria Reglà, from Bàscara, was one of the actors who took part on Sunday, and it was her first time visiting Montserrat as well, which she says she couldn't have done on a better day.

"It's great to see so many people with whom we share a tradition," she pointed out.

The initiative commemorates the 800th anniversary of the first live nativity in history, and surprised the tourists who visited Montserrat for the day.

"I didn't expect it, it's spectacular," Harry-Makin and Diré-uts Van der Merwe, two young men from South Africa, told the Catalan News Agency.
