The 34th edition of Barcelona’s Jardins Pedralbes Festival is set to take place this summer between June 7 and July 24, featuring performances from artists such as James Blunt, Simply Red, Jethro Tull, Tom Jones, A-ha, Jessie J, Patti Smith, Jorge Drexler, and The Beach Boys.

The lineup

The event’s director, Martín Pérez, promised that this year would be the festival’s best edition yet, with artists from the 2020, 2021, and 2022 lineups all scheduled to perform, including 29 headliners. “We are bringing the headliners together into one festival,” he added.

Although the lineup features a number of global names, several Catalan acts are also set to take to the stage, such as pop groups Blaumut and Els Amics de les Arts, and rock and roll singer Loquillo.

From elsewhere in Spain, there will be pop act Rosario, flamenco singer Diego el Cigala, Latin ballad singer Raphael, and Andalusian artist Pablo Alborán.

The fourth edition of the Jardins Pedralbes Festival Solidarity Night will take place on June 9, consisting of a charity dinner, the proceeds of which will go to San Joan de Déu Pediatric Cancer Center in Barcelona.

The future of the festival

Pérez explained that musical promotion company Concert Studio has won the Barcelona City Council’s public bid to organize the festival this summer, as no other company put themselves forward, describing it as a win “by elimination.”

He also announced that they reached an agreement with the Catalan government to extend their contract to organize the festival by at least 5 years, adding that “I am sure that the Generalitat keeps their promises.”

One of the new conditions of this agreement, however, is that the space for both audience and the festival itself is to be smaller than in previous years, although Pérez highlighted that this is still up for negotiation.

Last year’s festival brought around 100,000 attendees. The 42 concerts in the main hall were over 95% full and 33 shows sold out.

Tickets for the event are already on sale and cost between €18 and €440.
