The Cap Roig festival is one of Costa Brava’s main musical highlights of the summer, and this year the 18th edition of the event that attracts some of the biggest names in music will take place from July 13 to August 22. Jointly organized by the Clipper's Live event management company and the foundation of 'La Caixa' bank, the festival this year boasts a total of 28 concerts in the privileged Mediterranean setting of the Baix Empordà area.

Mexican singer Luis Miguel will kick off proceedings this year in an edition that, according to festival head Juli Guiu on Friday, strives to find the right balance “between international and Spanish artists.” Italian singer Andrea Bocelli will bring the event to a close on August 22, but before then the festival will welcome some of the best-loved and most-respected musical acts in the world.

In fact, the line up for this year’s festival is a roll call of talent from home and abroad, and includes Manolo García, Bryan Ferry, Texas, Sting, Antonio Orozco, Luz Casal, Damien Rice, Maná, Jarabe de Palo, Juanes, Rosario, Joan Dausà, Mag Lari, James Blunt, Morat, Sergio Dalma, Els Catarres, Dàmaris Gelabert, Macaco, Loquillo, Antonio José, Joan Baez, Hombres G, Taburete, Roger Hodgson and Pablo López.

In searching for a blend of top international and domestic performers, Guiu says that the organizers decided not to change a winning formula: “Rather than making a break with previous editions, we have continued with the eclectic line that we have preferred to follow for the past seven years and that has given us such great results.”

According to the festival head, the aim of the event is for “people to have one of the best nights of their holidays or the summer. It brings together one of the world’s most unique spots, artists who feel great being so spectacularly close to the public, and gastronomy that means the combination of all three things is the recipe for a unique night out.”

Tickets for the concerts go on sale on March 5 on the Cap Roig festival’s official website, with the average price for a ticket at 61.3 euros. “If we take out the four extraordinary concerts by Maná, Bocelli, Sting and Luis Miguel, the average ticket price drops to 45.7 euros,” said Guiu. The budget for this year’s event is 4.1 million euros.
