Around 4.4 million people visited museums funded by Barcelona City Council in 2023, according to provisional figures that will be updated in January.

The figure is an increase of almost one million on 2022, when 3.6 million visits were made, and very close to pre-pandemic levels of around 4.8 million in 2019.

The most popular museums for visitors in 2023 were the Picasso Museum, the Born Center for Culture and Memory (CCM) and Barcelona History Museum (MUHBA), which has sites across the city.

The two most popular exhibitions were both in the Picasso Museum, which passed the one-million visitors mark for the first time since 2019 with 1,032,400.

'Carmen Calvo' received 350,800 visitors while 'Miró-Picasso' is forecast to have welcomed 200,000 people by the end of the year. It runs until February.
