Norwegian to increase passenger capacity by 77% on flights between Barcelona and United States

The low cost airline company Norwegian announced on Monday plans to increase the frequency of flights between Barcelona and the United States, with an increase of 77% in the number of available seats.

This increase will also involve the incorporation of a third plane, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which has a capacity for 344 passengers, 35 of whom with the possibility to be in premium class. The new plane will be put into use on March 28, when the company officially inaugurates the summer season, and will bring the annual total of passengers flying with Norwegian to and from the US to 646,000.

The number of flights from the Catalan capital to Los Angeles and San Francisco will increase from 3 to 5 times a week, while two more weekly routes to New York will bring the total to 6. Flights to and from Miami remain unchanged. Tickets will be available for buying from December 20.

Prisca Dorie, the director of sales for Norwegian in Spain emphasized that one in three travellers flying between Barcelona and the US will use Norwegian.
