FC Barcelona have signed former Valencia striker David Villa for 40 million euros. The prospect of a five star forward line with Leo Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic Pedro and Bojan brought 35,000 fans to the Camp Nou to welcome the new signing.

David Villa, Barça's new number seven, has signed a four year contract with the club. The Asturian forward, clearly amazed by the reception, said he is "honoured" and "proud" of the chance to join the team. Guardiola's luxury lineup may lead him to make some changes to the system as the coach now disposes of two out-and-out centre forwards: Villa and Ibrahimovic. A diplomatic Villa said they may be compatible but it is clear that Barça's new signing is best at moving in short spaces while Ibrahimovic dominates aerial play. Bojan could be another headache. After a spectacular finish to the season, the young striker may find himself pushed back to the bench again.

The Fàbregas saga

The other dream signing is Cesc Fàbregas, Arsenal's Catalan captain. Cesc has made it quite clear he wants to come back to Barça, where he began his career. Fabregas is hungry to win titles, he would be closer to his familiy -he is from Arenys de Mar- and would be glad to join a "dream team" where he would coincide with many teammates in the Spanish national team such as Puyol, Pique, Xavi, Iniesta, Valdes and David Villa. Arsenal will not let him go easily and the price is expected to be the highest ever for a Catalan player. Whether Barça can meet Arsenal's demand remains to be seen.
