The second #wasteinprogress forum in Girona, northern Catalonia, will share ideas focusing on how to tackle 60% of the waste generated in tourist destinations and major events.

“We found this topic interesting,” explained Frederic Puig, one of the organizers behind the forum, at a press conference on Wednesday, “because it is one of the big difficulties, not only in Catalonia, but also worldwide.”

According to a European study, 30% of all municipal waste is created in these two areas. The forum, to be held from February 21 to 23 next year, will take into account ideas from places such as Taipei (Taiwan), Sardinia (Italy), and Sant Llorenç de Cardassar (Balearic Islands) in how to deal with waste management. It aims to be a laboratory for the recycling of ideas.
