More than 2,000 Lady Gaga fans formed long queues in front of the Palau San Jordi concert hall in Barcelona. All these ‘Little Monsters,’ as they call themselves, were patiently waiting to see American singer kick off the European ‘Joanne World Tour.’ Sunday January 14

For fans, this is a long-awaited moment. Lady Gaga’s last 2017 concert was cancelled due to the singer’s fibromyalgia; added to the fact that the two Barcelona shows (January 14 and January 16) are the pop icon’s only tour dates in Spain, enthusiasts from all over the peninsula lined up to hear songs like ‘Poker face’ and ‘ Applause’  performed live.

“I’m not very nervous, but this is my first concert of hers. We’ll see, though, when I go into the concert hall and get on the floor, I might have a heart attack,” joked expectantly Álvaro, who came all the way from Madrid. “I hope it´s an innovative concert, although I’ve already seen some of her show material on social media so I’m not going in blind,” he also said.

“I know she has a good voice and she’s very versatile,” expressed Àlvaro, adding though that he wants to hear it for himself. While waiting in line, the fan from Madrid also noted the good atmosphere among the Lady Gaga fans outside the venue, emphasizing, in particular, unity. The feeling of camaraderie was such that Àlvaro even bought a second concert ticket for the following gig on Tuesday, extending his trip to Barcelona by two days. “There’s no better way to start 2018,” the fan concluded.

Lady Gaga has been both public about her struggle with fibromyalgia, the cause of her canceling last year’s tour. This syndrome affects the muscles and soft tissues causing, among other symptoms, chronic pain. The artist has allegedly also been in contact with the Catalan Association of those Affected by Fibromyalgia, according to the radio station RAC1 inviting its representatives to her concert on January 16. Lady Gaga is the recipient of many Grammy and Golden Globe Awards, an Oscar nomination, album and singles sales of 30 million and 150 million, respectively.
