Emirates announce plans to run daily Airbus A380 flights between Barcelona and Dubai

As of 1 February 2014 the 517-seat A380 will link the Catalan capital with Dubai on a daily basis. It will be Spain’s first regular flight of the world’s largest passenger airliner. The flight will increase the route’s current passenger capacity by 44%. “Barcelona is one of the most popular destinations out of those that were unveiled in 2012,” stated Emirates Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations, Hubert Frach. The airline is currently running the flight with a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Barcelona (ACN).- Emirates announced on Monday that it will start running the Barcelona-Dubai daily route with the world’s largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380. The flight will link both cities on a daily basis as of 1 February 2014. The 517-seat plane will increase the passenger capacity of the route by 44%. “Barcelona is one of the most popular destinations out of those that were unveiled in 2012”, stated Emirates Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations, Hubert Frach. Emirates has been operating the route with the Boeing 777-300ER, but the airline wanted to increase the passenger capacity due to high demand.


“With the route’s sustained growth we believe the time has come to announce the start of our new A380 service which will continue linking our clients in Spain with Dubai as well key destinations in Australia, the Indian subcontinent and the Far East”, stated Frach through a press release distributed to Spanish media.
