Barcelona (ACN).- ‘Jo confesso’ (I confess) is the new novel by Catalan author Jaume Cabré (Barcelona, 1947). Cabré is the author of ‘Les veus del Pamano’, which has not been published in English yet (‘Die Stimmen des Flusses’ in German or ‘Les Voix du Pamano’, in French). ‘Les veus del Pamano’ sold more than 100,000 copies in Catalan, 450,000 in German and has sold well in a further eleven languages. After the success of ‘Les veus del Pamano’, Cabré’s latest novel will also be translated into the main European languages.

With ‘Jo confesso’ the reader will travel from the Eixample, in the centre of Barcelona, to the Congo, and from the 20th century back to the 18th. It is the long confession of Adrià Ardèvol, the highly-gifted son of a bourgeois but loveless family from Barcelona. Adrià has a distant relationship with his father, a mysterious antique dealer, and with his mother, who does not understand him.
