The Supreme Court is taking over the case against pro-independence leaders from the National Court. This opens the door for the option of release, for the eight ministers and the two civil society leaders who are in prison awaiting trial. The Supreme Court has, so far, imposed less severe precautionary measures than the National Court. The judge could now revise their cases and, if freed, many of the jailed politicians will be able to campaign in the December 21 election.
