The political situation in Catalonia had no impact on 75.6% of small and medium sized Catalan industry businesses, while 18.4% suffered from reduced sales.

A survey by PIMEC, an association of small and medium businesses in the country, presented on Tuesday, highlighted the “solidity and power” of the Catalan industrial sector, emphasizing that the political crisis had had little effect on business.

The association’s president, Josep González, expressed his optimism, while the director of PIMEC Observatory, Modest Guinjoan, stated that 2017 had been a “good year” for industrial small and medium businesses, with a 61% increase in sales.

With regard to 2018, Guinjoan believes that the report indicates that there will be a “continuation” of last year’s good results, with expectations of an increase in global activity.
